How would you describe your teaching style?
I aim to develop a trusting and positive rapport with students which gives them the confidence to ask for help when needed. However, I also believe in building students’ independent working skills to problem solve for themselves. I teach a diverse range of students with different levels, as well as those with dyslexia, emotional and behavioural issues and students with ESOL. Recently, I have supported students to plan, draft and edit their academic essays. I use many strategies to engage young people and adults in the classroom, making the sessions interactive and supportive, as well as challenging. I gain feedback from students on how they are progressing and then talk through steps they need to take in order to move forward. Students are expected to complete self-study tasks in order to consolidate learning in the sessions.
What qualifications do you have?
Master of Education (Applied Linguistics) BA (Hons) Humanities (English, History, Education) Certificate in Education (teaching qualification for Further Education) Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) Certificate in Adult Literacy Subject Specialism
