An enthusiastic, experienced primary school teacher with extensive Year 6 experience. I am a primary school teacher with seven years of teaching and leadership experience and have recently relocated from Newcastle to Driffield. By working as a tutor, I believe I can help children reach their full potential in a fun and supportive manner, focusing exclusively on their individual needs, whilst engaging reluctant learners. I aim to provide the highest level of education and adapt my teaching methods to meet the needs of individual children, promoting confidence and resilience. Teaching in Year 6 has enabled me to develop an extensive knowledge of Year 6 SATs and has given me a real passion and flair for helping children prepare for their SATs with proven results. Although the majority of my teaching experience has been in Key Stage 2, my role as Literacy Lead has provided me with invaluable experience of Literacy in Key Stage 1. The tuition I offer is English (Reading, Writing and Grammar) and Maths in KS1 and KS2, specialising in KS1 and KS2 SATs tuition.

Tell us about your experience...
I am a primary school teacher with seven years of teaching and leadership experience. Having recently relocated from Newcastle to Driffield, I resigned from my position as Year 6 class teacher and Literacy Lead and I am now looking to utilise my teaching skills to begin a new venture in tutoring. Working across Years 5 and 6 for five years has provided me with invaluable experience of Y6 SATs and the level of expectation required of all pupils by the end of Key Stage 2. Throughout my seven year career, I have developed a passion and flair for Literacy and have always sought to continue my professional development by attending training courses and researching the Literacy curriculum thoroughly. My role as Literacy Lead this past year and working closely alongside the previous Literacy Lead for several years has provided with me with a wealth of Literacy knowledge and an understanding of the essential Literacy skills needed in each year group within the primary age range. It has also allowed me to demonstrate my creativity in creating and implementing effective reading and grammar systems across school as well as working collaboratively with others to ensure Literacy is taught to the highest possible standard. In addition to my role as Year 6 class teacher and Literacy Lead, I delivered SATs booster sessions and extra tuition in both Maths and Literacy. Prior to teaching in Years 5 and 6, I taught in Year 4 for two years. Although my experience to date has been in Key Stage 2, my role as Literacy Lead has provided me with invaluable experience of Literacy across Key Stage 1 and 2. My roles as Computing and French lead have provided me with an in depth understanding of these subjects and the expectations in each year group and my role as Acting SENCO has allowed me to expand on my understanding of different learning styles and differentiation. I pride myself on my approachable disposition and communication skills and understand the significance of team work. I love to share my knowledge and expertise with my colleagues and have done so throughout my management roles during staff training and workshops, day to day conversations and when giving feedback from lesson observations and book scrutinies, which I always ensure to do so sensitively and constructively. As well as sharing my own expertise, I am always eager to learn and develop further and I relish and take on board fresh ideas from my colleagues. I aim to go above and beyond to help my colleagues and team members at all times and this was evident whilst working at my last school where I was named the 'go to person' for teachers when seeking advice on all aspects of Literacy and Computing.
