Hi, Im Jess and I am a current final year university student who is looking to help other students who might be struggling with GCSE or A level Psychology. I think when tackling exams, a good writing style and exam structure is extremely important, so I am happy to help students work on this by talking through model exam questions according to the mark scheme, as well as making up and marking practice exam papers based on the specification of the exam board. I am also more than happy to help with content, in order for the student to gain the best possible grasp of the subject.
How would you describe your teaching style?
I am an online tutor who is happy to help students with any issues they have, regarding their Psychology course. I believe that every student is different, and with experience of taking the exams myself, I also understand that struggles can change day by day so my approach is very much to help students with what they are struggling with at the current time period, with the understanding that this might change. I also believe that it is extremely important to follow specifications, and become accustomed from the very start to the type of exam questions could be given in the final exams therefore, a focus in sessions will be around the individuals specification for the exam board they are following.
What qualifications do you have?
I achieved 2 A's and 9 B's at GCSE and at A-level AABC with an A in psychology and an A in my extended project which was Psychology based, my other grades were achieved in biology (C) and English Literature. I am now in my final year studying undergraduate Psychology with Neuroscience.
Tell us about your experience...
I have no formal experience in tutoring or teaching, other than a short placement for my degree at an SEN school and also ongoing volunteer work for an app called MeeTwo where I respond to young people who post any concerns they may want to through anonymously. However, I feel my experience lies from a students perspective. I understand the stress of GCSE's and A-levels and would therefore like to offer my help in making the process a little smoother where I can.
What locations do you tutor in?
What is your personal message to students?
My personal message to students is that its never as bad as you think and never be scared to ask others for help! In my first year of studying Psychology at A-level I achieved a D/C from the end of year mocks, simply because the exam style was very new. Yet, with a little extra work and some help from others I achieved an A grade
