Hello there, I am a professional researcher in organic chemistry based at the University of Birmingham, with a PhD in organic synthesis. I have mentored and lab supervised many Chemistry Masters and PhD students, as well as tutored 1st and 2nd year organic chemistry. I also have experience tutoring A-Level and GCSE chemistry.
How would you describe your teaching style?
My teaching style is relaxed, flexible and inquizzative. I try to break the question down and reform it using more relatable concepts. I have a preference to try and bring an understanding of principles, rather than rote learning (when possible), and to try and bring out a more confident chemist by the end of our time together.
What qualifications do you have?
I have a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Birmingham Masters in Chemistry with Industrial Experience (1st class) from the University of Birmingham A-Levels in Chemistry (A), Physics and Biology GCSEs in Maths and English.
Tell us about your experience...
My experience has mainly been with mentoring PhD Students and teaching undergraduate chemistry in small groups. However, I have also taught A-Level and Key-Stage 4 on an informal basis.
