Hi there! I am a bubbly and enthusiastic individual with a passion for maths. I have been working as a tutor for more than five years. Not only have I helped students build confidence in this often misunderstood subject, I have helped them achieve the grades they truly deserve. To me, learning maths should be a positive and engaging experience and not seem like a tedious chore.
How would you describe your teaching style?
Rather than just teaching out of a textbook, I incorporate puzzles, quizzes, mini games and past paper questions in my lessons. I do not believe in rote learning i.e. showing the student a method and getting them to practice it repeatedly until they have memorised it. With maths, it is essential that the students gain a conceptual understanding of what they are learning. This not only improves their understanding but also develops their problem solving skills. No matter their ability, I view all my students as mathematicians.
What qualifications do you have?
I have a PGCE in secondary mathematics from King's College London. I also have a degree in maths and finance from City University London.
