I am a qualified English teacher currently working in a local secondary school. I am a naturally patient, calm and creative person. I came to teaching later in life after graduating from Anglia Ruskin University with a BA (Hons) Humanities. I began my teaching career as an LSA supporting individual students in classroom settings. Later, I qualified as an English teacher and have worked in various schools in and around Southend for the last nine years. My experiences have brought me into contact with students of a broad range of abilities, particularly those with SEN those struggling with English skills. Having taught KS3 and KS4 English Language and English Literature, I am familiar with the curriculum and AQA and Edexcel exam boards. I appreciate that no two students are the same and enjoy differentiating and individualising learning to suit the student. Many students simply need to build their confidence and therefore it is important to help them recognise their strengths as well as their weaknesses. By helping students to adopt a ‘can do’ attitude, I have been able to help struggling students gain pass grades at GCSE in both Language and Literature.
