I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher of Modern Languages and have been a teacher and tutor for over 15 years. I can offer 5 different languages at all levels. I currently work for three online schools which offer French and Spanish at Key Stage three, GCSE, IGCSE and A-level so I am fully aware of the new specifications. I have experience teaching pre-school and primary age children, high school students, adults and I can offer lessons over Skype too. All my lessons are tailored to the individual needs of the learner and I am always happy to help between lessons as that's when the questions come up! I also use different websites and resources to make the lessons even more fun. Please do get in touch for more information. There are also special rates for daytime lessons if you book before March 2018.
How would you describe your teaching style?
All lessons are tailored to the needs and requirements of each student so methods do vary. However, I like to use different websites and resources in lessons which can also be used for homework. Using different methods makes the learning more fun and interesting and also allow students to maintain the information. It is also important to me that students know that I am available between lessons to answer any questions even if it is to ask what a word means. Learning a language is fun!
What qualifications do you have?
I have a PGCE qualification for teaching Modern Languages from the University of York which I completed in 2002. I gained Qualified Teacher Status following my Newly Qualified Teacher year at a school in Wakefield which was a 'Specialist Language College'. I have an BA in French with Spanish, Japanese and Italian from the University of Hull and took advanced German lessons during my time there. I have taken a TEFL course and have taught English in France.
Tell us about your experience...
I have been a private tutor for 8 years and before that I was a teacher at a Specialist Language College near Wakefield. I teach five different languages to all ages and I am very proud of the exam results my students have achieved. I have had some students who have successfully taken exams early and some adult learners who have also gained high grades in GCSE and A-level. I taught English at a school in France as an English Language Assistant and enjoyed the experience so much, I decided to become a teacher. Seeing my students learn and enjoy languages is important to me.
What locations do you tutor in?
I teach at my home based in St John's in Wakefield and also online. Students do come for lessons from most of Yorkshire and I teach students all over the country and even as far as the USA!
