I am a Maths teacher and tutor who can fill the gaps in your Maths knowledge and understanding. This will give you Maths confidence and help you to reach your full potential. I persevere until I find a way to explain complicated maths concepts in an easily understandable manner, taking into account the differing abilities and learning styles of individual students.

How would you describe your teaching style?

I persevere until I find a way to explain complicated maths concepts in an easily understandable manner, taking into account the differing abilities and learning styles of individual students. I have a calm, patient and encouraging manner and help students to make good progress and to take away the fear of maths. I provide all the materials necessary for my lessons which involve some explaining and demonstrating by me and practice questions for the student to try. These will then be checked and misconceptions and errors explained. If required, I provide homework to check the understanding of the topic after the tuition session. I am available to tutor individuals and small groups. I tutor all ages, adults looking to improve their maths skills. Please contact me to discuss how I can help and tailor my offering to your needs. I look forward to hearing from you.

What qualifications do you have?

B. Comm. (South Africa) achieved at University of the Free State in 1997 Higher Education Diploma (South Africa) achieved at University of the Free State 1998 Qualified Teacher Status acheived at UEL in 2006

Tell us about your experience...

I currently teach maths at GCSE and Key Stage 3 level, having previously taught Maths and ICT at Key Stage 3 and GCSE level. As an examiner for GCSE, I am up to date with recent specification changes and able to confidently tutor exam technique. During my twenty years as a teacher, I have worked with students with a wide range of differing needs and abilities, both in the classroom, in intervention groups and individually. I have experience of helping under achieving students to achieve the full potential. For some students this might be progressing from a fail to a pass. For other it might be progressing from an average pass to a grade 8 or 9 pass.

What locations do you tutor in?

I tutor face to face at my home in Romford. I also tutor online and currently help students across the UK to make rapid progress in Maths.

What is your personal message to students?

If your worst subject in Maths, I will meet you where you are and help you to make progress from there. It might just soon become one of your favourite subjects. If your favourite subject is Maths, I can stretch and challenge you and help you to achieve your full potential. I know classroom teachers have to focus on all the students in the room and sometimes don't have enough time to keep the most able stimulated.
