Tell us about your experience...

My academic journey began with the seven years I spent as a pupil at Bancroft's School in Woodford, Essex, which I loved. During my time there, I grew to love foreign languages, and studied them at A-Level. In the old scoring system, I achieved three 'As' in English, French and German A-Levels; and a Merit in 'S'-Level German (super-advanced level). After leaving Bancroft's, I went to University College, Oxford, where I studied Law and Modern Languages. Thereafter, I decided to become a teacher, and took my PGCE at King's College, London. After qualifying as a Modern Languages teacher, I taught in the state system for some years, including at the Robert Clack School in Dagenham. During that time, I came to realize that I did not particularly enjoy classroom teaching. I subsequently left the profession to work in the field of tax: firstly as an inspector for the Inland Revenue; and subsequently as a tax consultant for KPMG. In 2014, I decided to return to teaching, but on a one-to-one, private basis. I undertook a professional development course with TimePlan, studying English & Literacy in the Primary Phase, Child Protection and Special Educational Needs, in addition to other topics. In the process of retraining, I undertook classroom observations and taught lessons at a number of schools in the independent and state sectors, including Bancroft's and Forest. I am delighted to have found the perfect way forward for him as a teacher, and thoroughly enjoys my job . In addition to coaching children for the 11+, I also coaches for the 7+ and 13+ exams; teaches French and German up to A-Level; Spanish to Key Stage 3; English as a Second Language; and Elocution.
