I’m a highly experienced tutor specialising in preparing students for GCSE and A-level English. A published writer with a background in education, I’ve been running a busy home-based tuition practice for nearly a decade. I've taught a wide range of students, from those needing help to pass their GCSE English language to those aiming for the top grade at A-level required by their university of choice. My qualifications include an English degree from Oxford and a PhD in Philosophy. I’ve taught English in an independent school and a further education college and lectured in higher and adult education and, along the way, English as a Foreign Language and English for Academic Purposes. As a journalist, I’ve written for a wide range of newspapers, magazines and online media including the Guardian and Reuters. The author of several books, I now combine private tuition with my writing.
