Available for online sessions to help students stay on top of their academics during these difficult times. Having taught six year olds through to PhD candidates I've had a very wide range of students and I am confident that I can help them not just maintain their academic performance while they are off school but actually ensure they continue to make strides forward in their learning. Given no travel is involved I am happy to do a lower price for online sessions versus my normal rate (I will not be doing in-person sessions until government restrictions are lifted!).

How would you describe your teaching style?

A focus on building intuition and confidence and getting students to enjoy the subject - this is often more than half the battle!

What qualifications do you have?

Undergraduate, masters and PhD in mathematical economics.

Tell us about your experience...

In my native New Zealand, I tutored from the age of fourteen until I left for Cambridge four years later in all three sciences, maths, economics and accounting for students across all years of secondary school by the time I had finished myself. I also have extensive teaching experience from the four years of my PhD, being both a teaching fellow and a college supervisor at Cambridge University. I have taught mathematics, statistics, finance and economics to over 350 undergraduate and graduate students (typically in groups of 1-3 students at a time), receiving strong positive feedback for communicating difficult concepts and for inspiring motivation and enthusiasm among students. I was ranked "by far best PhD teacher” of the twenty PhD students teaching at the Cambridge Economics Faculty according to the official faculty summary of anonymous student surveys on teacher performance 2016. In addition to university level teaching, I also took students privately for GCSEs and A-levels in both economics and maths.

What locations do you tutor in?

Mainly south and central London.

What is your personal message to students?

Maths and economics are often not as tricky as they first appear - if you hang in there it will make sense!
