Global Private Tutoring Market to Grow at a Rate of 6.76% From 2016 - 2020

A report published by Research and Markets provides an overview of the growth of the global tutoring industry and names the top 13 global vendors.

According to research carried out by Research and Markets, the global private tutoring industry is set to grow at a CAGR of 6.76% during the period 2016-2020.

As well as providing an overview of the market landscape, the report lists the top 13 vendors in the industry.

The report highlights that there will be an increased emphasis on tutoring for entrance exams, particularly in the US and France. In the US, more than 68% of students sit entrance examinations, such as the American College Testing (ACT) exam and the SAT. In France, the International Baccalaureate (IB) exam is compulsorty for students that want to continue studying at university.

One of the challenges set out by the report, is the current unorganised marketplace for private tutors. Because the tutoring industry is considered a free market in most countries, there are no obligations for tutors to register with professional bodies, agencies, or to have background checks. This makes the industry very difficult to monitor, particularly given the number of freelance tutors that go somewhat 'under the radar'.

In the UK at least, the industry does appear to be becoming less fragmented, with more companies working together towards a common goal, such as closing the education gap and adhering to a code of ethics.

The research and Markets report summarised the top 13 global tutoring vendors as:

- Club Z!

- Fleet Tutors

- Huntington Learning Center

- A Plus-All Subjects Tutoring

- Building Educated Leaders for Life (BELL)

- C2 Education

- Educomp Solutions

- JEI Learning Center

- Kaplan

- Kids R' Kids International

- Mathnasium

- Sylvan Learning

What will be interesting to monitor over the next four years, is where the industry is headed with this increased demand for tutoring. We already know that online tutoring is set to make big waves over the coming years, but what other developments will we see in the UK?
