Before training as a teacher I had wide business experience in the private and public sectors (large and small scale) most recently as Managing Director of a small company and setting up my own business. I trained as a teacher and I have taught Business Studies at BTEC Level 3 and A-Level in Years 12 and 13. I have a strong set of resources for BTEC and A-Level. My teaching is firmly rooted in the real world. My aim is therefore to deliver high quality and “business-relevant” teaching for exams and to give you genuine lifeskills that you can use in your work and wider applications.

As a tutor I'm dedicated to helping your child achieve long-term success, so that they feel confident and happy to tackle any new challenges school throws their way. I am a fully-qualified teacher with extensive experience working with children off all age ranges and abilities. I believe that children learn best when the work they're asked to do is fun and so I tailor each tutoring session to the child I'm working with; after all, what's more fun for a child being asked to complete standard, somewhat dull maths sums or being asked to work out how many more Vbucks they'd need to buy a new Fortnite skin? By linking the sessions to something the child is interested in - be it sports, computer games, animals or anything else - I instantly grab their attention and make the lesson more fun and help them achieve success.

My names Amanda and I have been a teacher for the last 17 years and now work part time. I am very passionate about learning and teaching, whilst helping students to develop to their full potential I've spent my teaching career, teaching in different schools in London, where I've taught Health & Social Care, Sociology, English, Childcare, Psychology, English as an Additional Language and Special Needs. I have vast knowledge of various Health and Social Care qualifications and specifications. To extend my knowledge of assessment, I act as Principal Examiner for the Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC). As part of my role, I oversee Assistant Moderators and ensure WJEC protocol is adhered to. During my time working for the exam board, I have been a part of developing new specifications and also resources for the Welsh Grid for Learning, which have now been turned into interactive teaching resources. My teaching method is dynamic and I like to use a range of activities to help support learning. I believe in using various approaches to teaching, which facilitate the active participation of students and involve them fully in their group and individual learning.

As a teacher I have always placed an emphasis on 21st century skills and would integrate high levels of technology in my classrooms. Teaching with awareness of an increasing digital world has prepared me for our current climate and I am confident in delivering online lessons that are engaging, creative and challenging, supporting the learning of my students. Currently I am tutoring primary school aged students - helping guide thinking of coursework and supporting mastery of skills that is required of them in class. I have over 7 years of classroom teaching experience, from Reception to Year 6. Before the pandemic I spent some time travelling, wanting to maintain my connection with teaching, I began teaching English online. The training that I received through the company, VIPKid, built my toolset in using props, total physical response and modelling online. Teaching with VIPKid for one year I had over 50 ESL students, this practical experience helped me to overcome barriers and realize the advantages of online learning. During the initial phase of the pandemic and with the onset of school closures I was working for an educational NGO who was tasked with tutoring students who were struggling to pass their finals. Given that teachers could not meet with students in person I developed an online learning program for students from 8 different schools. I created learning materials and lessons for 30 other tutors and taught the lessons myself to 20 different students online. I trained the other tutors on how to use Google Education and to utilize other online resources to make interactive online lessons. Through my lessons I used google classroom (+ slides, docs, hangouts, calendar), Jamboard, Flipgrid, Khan Academy, Kahoots, TES, Literacy Shed, Brainpop, Dojo, youtube, etc to support my lessons. My online lessons always include summative feedback, whether it was direct feedback to parents or a quiz that the students would do after the lesson to demonstrate new understandings of content. Some feedback from parents- “Candace would go above and beyond to support the learning needs of our child. The lessons were always clear, upbeat and supportive.” “Lessons are well organized, structured and the teacher uses lots of visuals to support lessons.” "Candace is a compassionate teacher and helped our daughter graduate through her persistence, constant encouragement and responsive teaching methods."

Outstanding teacher as rated by OFSTED with a passion for children's mental health. Hi! I'm Sarahlynn, a professional tutor with over 10 years of experience within the education sector. My passion is supporting children to find their confidence in a subject whereby they feel ill-fitted. I love the 'aha' moments that allow them to go from feeling confused and reluctant to eager and motivated. I do this by following a 3 step process: - I invite the family to meet with me to discuss their child's goals, obstacles, interests and level. This is where I find out if there are also underlining emotional needs that we can address as well. - There's an initial assessment that takes place either formally or informally. This allows me to create a plan that is perfect for helping your child in areas where they need it the most. - Following sessions, parents receive a follow-up email along with a half-term report to ensure we're in line with our objectives. Some recent parent feedback: “Sarahlynn has been nothing but a source of strength and encouragement for my daughter Ella. After struggling with confidence at school and feeling embarrassed to put her hand up in class, she was falling behind. Since Sarahlynn has been working with her, she has gone up a Math set and has become noticeably more relaxed in social settings. We couldn’t be more proud.” "Sarah-Lynn guided my 10 year old son through a crash course over half term to prepare him for his ISEB Pre-test for entry into senior schools including Harrow, Eton and Winchester. We worked together to identify the specific sub-topics within Maths, English, Non-Verbal and Verbal Reasoning that he needed extra help with. Sarah-Lynn used their time very efficiently so that everything was covered, but was she still very patient and thorough. She had even taken the time to research inspirational quotes that really resonated with my son so it was lovely to see him full of enthusiasm and looking forward to their sessions. She also sent a report after each session and shared her notes so that we could practice further at home. Thanks to Sarah-Lynn, my son was left feeling happy and confident ahead of his exam." "Hi Sarahlynn, good news from Harrow... they said X performed will in his ISEBs and is through to the next stage! He will sit the Harrow Test next Year! Thank you for your help during this process." "Hi Sarahlynn, just to update you, * has been invited to interviews at Winchester and Charterhouse and we've just found out today that Eton have invited him too! We are over the moon. Thanks again for all of your help and support."
