History Tutors in Islington and History Tutoring in Islington
I am a Cambridge-educated historian who has recently finished a Master’s degree in World History, and is currently studying for a PhD (examining British and imperial perspectives on the Balkans). Although I specialise in the history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Europe and the Middle East, my field of past study is relatively broad, and I would be able to act as a tutor for modules focusing on any period or region of the world. I have been privately tutoring, on and off, for the last couple of years, and volunteered as an Assistant Leader at my local Scout group from 2016-2019, giving me significant experience in working with young people both in groups and on a one-on-one basis. I am able to teach both online and in person, with extremely flexible availability, and am happy to tailor my tutoring style to individual preferences and needs; potential sessions might involve talking through essay plans, discussing timelines and outlines of events, analysing primary or secondary sources, working on essay technique, or a combination of the above. Please do get in touch if you are interested!

I have a MA in British History and studied politics as part of my degree. I am an enthusiastic teacher, with a love of my specialist subject, and believe that I have the drive and energy to inspire young minds to question, make connections and to develop their understanding and achievement in the subject. I am presently teaching across all age ranges from 11-18 years and have two AS Level classes following the AQA History examination specification. I enjoy teaching A-Level, as it is an opportunity to delve deeper into historical research and debate.

I am a London based tutor who recently completed sixth form with a 44 out of 45 in the IB course, and having gained all 9s in my GCSEs two years ago. I am hoping to tutor students for the 11+ or for GCSEs. I specialise in maths and science, both of which I took at IB higher level. I only have experience volunteer tutoring at my school but every student I have helped has commended my patience.

Tom has 5 years' experience tutoring History, Philosophy, Theology, Political Economy, and Sociology. His "super tutor method" empowers students to take control of their learning, giving them the confidence to convincingly argue their points of view formed through their own academic investigation. He has a track record of increasing examination grades by at least two grade boundaries and is yet to have a university student achieve anything below a 2:1.
