Maths Tutors in Haringey and Maths Tutoring in Haringey
I am an experienced (18 years) secondary school teacher, and currently teach KSs 3, 4 and 5 at a highly regarded selective school in North London. I have also been an examiner for many years, more recently progressing to the Team Leader role, supervising a team of eight other examiners. I have taught Edexcel A level Maths and Further Maths Pure, Mechanics and Statistics for many years, though my speciality is definitely Pure/Core – this is where I have all my examiner experience. I am available to tutor Maths and Further Maths AS/A level only. The first lesson is free, at which point we can jointly decide if I can help you. I only plan to take on two or three students at any one time in order to ensure quality individual attention while ensuring my other work commitments are not neglected. I cannot tutor current students at my school.
I have 7 years experience as a tutor, teaching GCSE and A-level English - my student achieved an A* and gained a place at Cambridge - and also English and Maths from age 7 to 11. I have experience working towards the Harrow entrance exam, and my pupil was offered a place. I have a BA in English and Philosophy (Starred First) and an MA (First) in Film and Literature from the University of York. I aim to create a very encouraging and friendly environment, one that is both relaxed and studious. I have found through experience this brings out the best in the students. Please email for enquiries.

I am currently in my fourth year at Oxford University studying for a Masters in Biochemistry. I tutor GCSE or key stage 3 Biology, Chemistry and Maths. For A-level I studied Biology (A*) Chemistry (A*) and Maths (A*) and achieved 10 A*s at GCSE. I have extensive experience working with kids (ranging from the ages of 5-16) through mentoring GCSE students during my sixth form, tutoring and babysitting. I am an enthusiastic person and understand the importance of encouragement in the learning process. I hope to give my students a thorough understanding of the principles of the subject, as well as teaching to the syllabus. In my experience, practising exam questions is the best way to build confidence and achieve your potential. Please feel free to contact me with any queries!

I am a masters student living not far from Seven Sisters station (South Tottenham). I am currently studying to become a Speech and Language therapist at University College London (UCL), but in my spare time would love to tutor maths, english, science or psychology. I have a first class undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Maths A Level, these would be my two strongest and most commonly tutored subjects. A lot of requests are about the statistics side of Psychology which I also love to tutor. However I can also teach English Literature and/or Language (up to GCSE) or Science (up to Year 9). I am willing to travel to you and have flexible availability for weekday evenings, most Fridays or weekends. I make my lessons easy to understand and not boring!

I currently study Maths and Economics at the London School of Economics, but having struggled at Maths in my early years at secondary school I know how hard it can be. I try and break problems down to make them more interesting by relating them to the real world and showing the practical uses of Maths. I have recently completed an internship with 'TeachFirst' where I learned about engaging teaching techniques and concluded with me teaching a Maths lesson at a school in East London. The lesson, and its main activities, will be designed to best fit your way of learning. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Passionate, dedicated and trustworthy Tutor based in Haringey. I tutor KS1 & KS2 students in Maths, English and Science. My aim is to ensure all my students succeed. My methodology is simple. I start by interviewing (having a chat with the view of getting to know) all my students, I then assess them to ascertain how to tutor my student and also what their strengths and weaknesses are. Then I tailor make my lesson plans around that, as every student is unique, that means they have different learning styles and paces. I tend to focus on the weaknesses more; by making learning fun and interesting I can engage students more. My success as a tutor comes from helping students smash their goals and some.

I know how easy it is to become discouraged when studying Maths. It's a subject in which concepts can be difficult to understand. As soon as children struggle to cope in class, they can quickly fall behind and lose interest and motivation. I love Maths and I love persuading children (and adults) that Maths is fun. But it's only fun when you understand it. That’s where I come in. I am a knowledgeable, professional, reliable and dedicated tutor, but I am very approachable and like to make lessons informal and engaging. My first taster session is free and there is some room for manoeuvre for subsequent sessions. I identify the problems and offer solutions tailored to the individual child. Contact me to find out how I can help your child gain success and satisfaction in Maths.

I encourage a strong rapport and an adaptable, flexible approach to help students engage with subject matter on their own terms while also being pushed and challenged. Particularly as an undergraduate tutor at both King's College and University College London, this entailed various individual requirements (e.g. non-native speakers of English, post-A-level vs "ab initio" students) to which I was required to remain constantly alert to ensure full student participation, for which I was rewarded with 90%+ positive feedback in end-of-year student evaluations. Having worked with a wide range of students from 11+ to upper secondary and university levels, I am confident in working together with students and parents to ensure both examination success and an enduring fondness for learning.

As a Master's graduate in Physics from King's College London, I am a qualified and enthusiastic tutor with the in-depth subject knowledge required to teach subjects that students often struggle with. I have worked as a tutor throughout my undergraduate degree, and have experience working in tuition centres and classroom environments. My approach to tutoring is to be patient and encouraging in order to provide sufficient levels of reassurance to the student while explaining difficult concepts. I believe in continuous assessment of the student's progress in order to ensure understanding of the subject.

Passive consumption, say by watching videos or reading books, is certainly the lowest friction way to expose yourself to new Maths and Physics. But if you care about long-term retention and exam success there is really no substitute for establishing a deeper intuitive understanding of the concepts and what they actually mean. Quite often the way maths is taught at School is to accept certain ‘rules’ or ‘methods’ without imparting an understanding of what the underlying concepts mean or how they can be used. I am a Maths and Physics postgraduate with a patient, methodical approach to helping individuals gain a better understanding of the concepts that underpin both subjects. I prefer to teach face to face as the best way of explaining, sometimes difficult concepts, is with the aid of visuals (diagrams / drawings) which the individual can also get involved with. However, I can support on-line learning also.

Having taught for 38 years I have helped hundreds of young people develop in their confidence and ability. This is easy for me as I have always loved mathematics. Every student is a world unto themselves and my approach is in evolving a strategy and pattern that works for the individual. For those with motivation problems equally for those who simply require the knowledge imparted. I particularly value communication with parents as this makes for awareness of challenges and progress, which makes a big difference. I look for inspiration and ability as equal factors in bringing the learning alive.
