Private Tutors in Haringey and Tutoring in Haringey
Passive consumption, say by watching videos or reading books, is certainly the lowest friction way to expose yourself to new Maths and Physics. But if you care about long-term retention and exam success there is really no substitute for establishing a deeper intuitive understanding of the concepts and what they actually mean. Quite often the way maths is taught at School is to accept certain ‘rules’ or ‘methods’ without imparting an understanding of what the underlying concepts mean or how they can be used. I am a Maths and Physics postgraduate with a patient, methodical approach to helping individuals gain a better understanding of the concepts that underpin both subjects. I prefer to teach face to face as the best way of explaining, sometimes difficult concepts, is with the aid of visuals (diagrams / drawings) which the individual can also get involved with. However, I can support on-line learning also.

Hello! I`m a French tutor living in Finchley, North London. I`m currently offering affordable online French tuition for students up to degree level. I would describe my teaching style as engaging, friendly and patient. I appreciate that everyone has different learning styles, so I always take the time to get to know my students, to ensure that my lessons are fun, motivating and effective - this is the only way that real progress can be made. I have a First Class degree in International Business and Modern Languages, where I specialised in French. Having lived in France as a child, I received a French education and learnt the language to fluency, which ignited my passion for learning languages (I have since gone on to study German, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish). Throughout university, I tutored French to all levels, from primary school (ages 6-10), GCSE and A-Level, and degree level (from first year to post-grad). Additional relevant experience includes both French to English and English to French translation/interpretation. While at university, as well as tutoring French, I also worked as a Writing Mentor, helping people to work on their writing and communication skills. Working with people of all abilities, across a wide range of subject areas and from first years all the way to post-grad, helped to shape me into a very adaptable and confident tutor.

Hello, I'm glad you found me! I have been a passionate educator since leaving university, having worked with children of a range of ages from 1-14 for several years in daycares and After School programmes, before finally going back to school to earn my PGCE in order to step up my professional qualifications and take on the more challenging role of being a secondary English teacher. I've especially loved the opportunity of pursuing this career in the UK, a country I have always admired from afar and whose authors I have adored since childhood. Now I'm looking for opportunities to meet and support students on a 1-to-1 basis in order to better pinpoint specific weaknesses in learning and create bespoke programmes that can help them achieve their goals. I can't wait to meet you and your child!

Having taught for 38 years I have helped hundreds of young people develop in their confidence and ability. This is easy for me as I have always loved mathematics. Every student is a world unto themselves and my approach is in evolving a strategy and pattern that works for the individual. For those with motivation problems equally for those who simply require the knowledge imparted. I particularly value communication with parents as this makes for awareness of challenges and progress, which makes a big difference. I look for inspiration and ability as equal factors in bringing the learning alive.
