I am an English and French tutor with over 5 years of experience in tutoring adults and children. I have always had a passion for languages, academia and helping others to succeed. I hold an MA in English Literature and a degree in English Literature with French. My adult tutees come from overseas and are keen to learn the language in order to communicate with confidence in their day-to-day lives. For my younger students, I create fun ways to learn French as a new language or I provide speaking, reading and writing exercises in order to improve their English skills and grades at school. For my secondary school students, including those at GCSE level, I tailor-make the lessons to match the curriculum and adapt my approach according to their personal learning styles. For A-Level and Graduate level students, I ensure to familiarise myself with the reading material and the specific exam boards in advance. I focus on teaching them techniques to build essential essay-writing skills and improve their ability to analyse and interpret texts. Before beginning a course of lessons, I offer a free consultation hour which helps me to fully understand and meet the needs of each student. Enhanced DBS checked.

I have previously taught English as a foreign language, Italian and French to children aged 9-13, teenagers and adults. My tutees markedly improve their knowledge and manage to fill the gaps they have and/or prepare for exams. In my experience it usually takes tutees 1-3 months to notice a difference and 3-6 months to feel more confident with the language, though this varies from person to person. The most important thing for me is to find out where specifically the tutee has difficulties or gaps with the subject. I am a strong believer in using a calm approach in tutoring.
