Although I am new to tutoring I am an incredibly patient, approachable person and I am able to tailor my tuition to suit anyone's needs. I am a private Maths Tutor providing one to one tuition and support to all students from Key Stage 2 up to IGCSE/GCSE level, or to adult learners requiring to improve their maths skills for further education or career opportunities. I love showing the fun side of maths and demonstrating to pupils that a problem just isn’t a set of terrifying numbers but a challenge to be enjoyed. I find benefit in concentrating effort on specific areas to build pupils self-confidence and understanding. Working on a one to one level allows me to tailor each individual lesson to each individual’s needs and thus improve results. For regular students, study plans, homework, ongoing mini tests and exam preparation are all part of the learning package. I enjoy teaching all standards whether it is fine tuning to achieve an A* or helping a pupil who is really struggling with everything. By building confidence and learning to comprehend the basic building bricks of the subject I hope we can make everything more understandable and achievable.

I have a patient style; first of all I will sit down with the tutee to discuss in which areas they believe they require one to one assistance. If the tutee cannot understand a particular problem, I will approach it from their angle, analyse where they are going wrong and break it down to the simplest form to help build their confidence. Maths is about problem-solving and I believe such skills can be developed outside of the basic numeracy involved, which is where a lot of children/adults lose confidence. Often all someone needs is a bit of time and attention.

I am a fully qualified English teacher who strives to achieve excellent results. Graduating university with a BA Hons in English language and literature, I achieved 69% - a very high 2:1. Following this I achieved outstanding teacher status upon completion of my SCITT and also hold a PGCE in English teaching. My ethos is to build relationships with my students in order to create relevant and imaginative lessons. I believe that every student should have the chance to reach their full potential and to appreciate the importance of English within a modern society. My subject knowledge from early years to A level is sound and I aim to adapt lessons according to students' abilities, which includes scaffolding for those who require prompting to challenging the more able or as ability improves. Most importantly I believe that English should not be taught 'to exam', but through teaching the skills required in order to pass exams, while following the national curriculum. In the past I helped a year 11 student to improve his English language grade from a 3 in his mocks to a 9 at GCSE. I hope to hear from prospective clients in good time to achieve this aim.
