My background is in languages and performing arts. I began studying English at age 8, French at 13, German at 15, and have been self-taught in Spanish since age 10. I come from a family with a long tradition in teaching and have always been encouraged to study and learn, while at the same time inheriting and developing a strong capacity to explain, train, and encourage. Since graduating from my Master's course in 2011 I have been working as a self-employed language tutor in and around London and have always received more than positive feedback from my clients. My tutees' ages range from four to seventy-four and I constantly endeavour to improve myself and adapt my teaching method to my clients' needs.

I am a third year History and Politics student at Queen Mary University of London. I am motivated and fascinated by my subjects, specialising in 20th Century British History. I am looking to go into education after my degree and have spent my time at university gaining as much experience as possible in this area. I have privately tutored a number of different students working at different levels. These have ranged from Reception to Year 5 and ranged from being struggling significantly to needing pushing further. I have also worked with children with SEN. I have tailored my approach to each child, with some working alongside their school work and with others filling gaps from school. Before starting to privately tutor I was a senior tutor with Explore Learning, teaching general Maths and English to a wide range of children aged 4-15 on a 1 to 6 ratio.

Good teaching can help change the lives and education of young people, and I feel motivated to make a similarly positive impact on potential students. I also teach piano to beginners and intermediates. I play many different genres of music, which makes it possible for me to tailor lessons around your interests and preferred taste.

Nine years ago I began tutoring at a tuition centre and I have been doing it ever since. I started off in a tuition centre for a few years and have been privately tutoring for the last four years. My love for tutoring and watching children grow and develop a passion for learning has kept me loving the job. My full time job as a mental health nurse working with young people has given me different perspectives on how best to work with children and how to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

I have been tutoring in French and German for 6 years concentrating mainly on GCSE and supporting A level students. I am familiar with most Exam Boards’ curricula. I have a degree in both languages from UCL and started tutoring when my children did their GCSEs and I realised that they needed a lot of extra support with the grammar in order to progress and do well. I am now offering online remote lessons via Zoom and find that the lessons are just as effective as face to face. During lockdown I have reduced my rates to help keep us all working in these difficult times. It is easy to share documents and files to support lessons on Zoom and I use a combination of past papers and revision guides. Each lesson is structured to support the needs of individual students. I cover all 4 papers; listening, speaking, reading and writing. Vocabulary work is essential if you want a top grade and I provide students with my list of frequently occurring tricky words from past papers.

I am a recent economics graduate. I achieved a first in BSc Economics. Whilst at university I worked as a tutor, where I planned and delivered sessions that consisted of maths problems to help students understand how economics could be applied to mathematics. My approach to tutoring is to guide students towards an answer by encouraging them to recall theory, or explaining theory to them so they can then apply it.
